The agent of Cristiano Piccini today confirmed to FirenzeViola.it that the young Florentine winger "will have his medical on Monday" for Real Betis, after impressing them very favorably in Fiorentina's friendly at their home stadium in Seville. The homegrown talent appears to be maturing very well and is still not 23, but he will not challenge for a starting role for Vincenzo Montella this season as he will play in the Spanish second division for recently demoted (but still fervently supported) Real Betis. Whether or not this move is related to Juan Cuadrado remaining for another season to play on the Fiorentina right wing is an open question, but the move could certainly be essential in giving continuity to Piccini's growth.
Dario Ristori - the agent in question - also took the time to clarify that the move has been made "in complete harmony" with Fiorentina, and that "the dream of Cristiano is to affirm himself with Fiorentina. He has been a fan since he was little and cares greatly for the team."
Let's hope that Piccini has a great season in Spain and comes back ready to confirm himself as a bandiera for Fiorentina teams to come!
