Quarterfinals Day 2: Unbeatable Costa Rica

Argentina and Netherlands completed the Semi-finals vacant places to accumulate Eleven World Cup titles, Twenty one final appearances, Thirty four Semi-finals appearances between the golden four National teams.

Argentina followed the steps of Brazil and Germany scoring early in the match and holding to their win. The match only goal was scored by Higuain. Argentina played their best match so far in the world cup as they played a strong defensive match along with minimal entertainment after they lead by one goal. Costa Rica missed on many chances to continue the tradition of having an unusual National team in the semi-finals of the latest copies of the World Cup like Croatia and South Korea. The match stretched to the Argentinians fortune up to the 120th minutes without any goals. Van Gal did the unthinkable and replaced his goalkeeper with Krul who was obviously ready to take on any penalty shootout challenge. In my opinion, all commentators calling penalty shootout "Luck shootouts" had a change of mind after watching how Krul always went for the ball. Both winners will play against each other in a repeat of the 1998 quarterfinals where Viola's Batistuta goal was not enough to beat the comeback of Bergkamp two goals at the time.
