Fiorentina continues their preseason preparations...

Gabriele Maltinti

Preseason continues at pace for Fiorentina as they work to get ready for a new season and the Europa Group stages.

Fiorentina played a second friendly against La Fiorita this week, beating the squad 6-0, with goals from Mario Gomez, Maxwell Acosty, and Joaquin along with two from Lazarri and and a goal from Gonzalo Rodriguez, who was put into a back lying defensive midfielder role. Montella was later quoted as saying that he was just trying out variations and it was nice to have options.

Another option Montella seems to be trying out is Federico Bernardeschi in a forward role, possibly as Giuseppe Rossi's backup. Federico played at Crotone as an attacking midfielder, but started the friendly next to Gomez.

Tatarusanu also got the start, with Neto handling the goalie chores in the second half

Fiorentina 1st half: Tatarusanu, Gonzalo, Alonso, Hegazi, Savic, Vargas, Piccini, Wolski, Borja Valero, Bernardeschi, Gomez

Fiorentina 2nd half: Neto, Roncaglia, Camporese, Tomovic, Acosty, Bakic, Mati Fernandez, Lazzari, Pasqual, Joaquin, Ilicic (Octavio 78)

Andrea Delle Valle has been in attendance this week, announcing a new deal for David Pizarro, a one year extension, that ADV says he hopes he will extend year to year, signalling Fiorentina's intent to keep the midfielder, hopefully, until the end of his career.

ADV also stated he would "look (Juan) Cudarado in the eye and resolve the situation". If the player's intention is to stay, then ADV will do everything to keep him. he went on to say, "It’s complicated, but not impossible. I’ll do everything I can, even with many sacrifices, but if the lad is no longer motivated to stay here then we can only accept that and move on.

In other news, the league has announced that it will announce Serie A fixtures on Monday, July 28th.
