Knockout Stage Day 3: African Tears!

Nigeria and Algeria fought hard against France and Germany respectively but fitness and experience played into the Old Continents team’s favor.

NIGERIA 0-2 FRANCE

France meets Nigeria in one of the two Euro-African matches early last night. A closed match in general and missed chances on both sides until France was able to score two goals in the end of the match by Pogba and an own goal by Yobo. Nigerian's were applauded by their fans while the French found it hard to celebrate after hardly beating the Nigerian tactics.

GERMANY 2-1 ALGERIA

A dramatic match from start to finish, Algerians waited 32 minutes after the match start to break their fast with water. Germany was forced to play their worst half in the World Cup against a well-organized Algerian defense. The only thing that worked for the Germans was their offside trap. The second half was much difference with the inclusion of Schurrle who brought life into the German offenses. 90 minutes were over and the score was still 0-0. 90 minutes proved to be too much for the Algerian to end with a clean sheet and they started falling in the extra time. Germany scored the first goal 2 minutes into the first extra 15 minutes. Thirty minutes later, Germany scored another goal but the Algerians took one back earning the respect they deserved for an amazing performance.
