World Cup Day 14: Broken Curse

Messi has broken the World Cup curse as Argentina pass through Nigeria with the full mark. Bosnia-Herzegovina beat Iran 3-1 to gift Nigeria qualification to the round of 16. France sent Ecuador off with a goalless draw while Switzerland hammer Honduras with three goals to qualify in second.

GROUP F

Argentina won against Nigeria with three goals by Messi (2) and Rojo against two goals by Musa for Nigeria. With the win, Argentina had to wait for a few hours to know if their knockout stage opponents will be South Americans or Switzerland. Bosnia win against Iran witnessed goals from Man City's Dzeko, Roma's Pjanic and Vrsajevic while Reza score for Iran. Since Bosnia-Herzegovina were out of the World Cup, their win against Iran allowed Nigeria to qualify with the four points they have accumulated in the first two rounds. Nigeria was set to face France in the knockout stage unless something catastrophic happens.

GROUP E

Ecuador became the only South American team to leave the World Cup from the group stage after a scoreless draw against France. Switzerland redeemed what is left of European football face in this World Cup winning 3-0 against Honduras (Not the best redemption). Switzerland goals were scored by Shaqiri to record the second hattrick of this World Cup. France at 7 points moves on to face Nigeria while Switzerland will finally face a real test after their supposed redemption against Argentina.
