Pick Up The Pieces

With three matches to go in the season, Fiorentina look to finish out Serie A in fourth place.

After a tough day in Rome as Fiorentina lost to Napoli at the Coppa Italia, Fiorentina have to regroup quickly and play a tough Sassuolo team, who are fighting for their Serie A lives.

Fiorentina, sure to be disappointed and likely to be distracted, will need to focus everything on this match, and it's up to coach Vincenzo Montella to make sure that happens.

To make the task that much difficult will be the absence of young standout goalie Norberto Neto, who toughed it out for the Coppa, but will sit tomorrow. Who replaces him will tell a lot about what this teams plans are for the rest of the season.

If Montella really does intend to make the run for fourth place, then Antonio Rosati will likely make the start, if la Viola just intend to see the season out without anymore fuss, than locker room favorite Cristiano Lupatelli may very get the nod.

Another factor for Mr Montella will be fatigue, Nenad Tomovic did a lot of running as did all the midfielders, especially Juan Vargas, who played a full 90 minutes. There could be some turnaround to get fresh players on the pitch.

Also out for the match are Mario Gomez and Marvin Compper, but included on the roster are Giuseppe Rossi, fresh off his  return from injury, Juan Cuadrado, back from suspension and long lost defender Ahmed Hegazy, who blew a knee way back last September. Playing time is not too likely, but it's nice to see the lad back on the bench.

Sassuolo will only be missing midfield creator Francesco Magnanelli due to yellow card accumulation.

Fiorentina, will be looking to gain ground on Inter, who lost to Milan this weekend already and sit 4 points behind la Viola. Sassuolo were passed by Bologna, who tied at Genoa and clawed out of the relegation zone by a point, leaving the green guys in the danger zone, at least for now.

After this match, Fiorentina will travel to Livorno, to face the bottom dwellers, while Sassuolo host Genoa and travel to Milan to play AC Balotelli.
