1-0 Lazio; Fiorentina Just Aren't That Good

Injuries and suspensions have conspired to make la Viola less than ordinary.

Paolo Bruno

No Borja Valero, no David Pizarro and no Vincenzo Montella, not to mention the continued loss of Giuseppe Rossi make Fiorentina... well, basically they suck.

The team showed up late, as did the crowd, who sat out the first ten minutes as a protest of the officiating. While the crowd showed their displeasure, the team gave them more to be upset over, as they let a cross hit the ground and a wide open Lorik Cana scored on an overhead kick and that was the match.

Fiorentina went on to shoot the ball 18 times, only getting the ball on net twice, and only one looked even possible to reach the back of the net.

It only gets worse as Fiorentina travel to Turin to play Juventus, who are likely seething for payback after a Rossi hat trick left them with red faces in the last match up.

Fiorentina will have to play without Valero again and also Nenad Tomovic who will be suspended for yellow card accumulation. The only plus is that Pizarro and Montella will be back.

Along with a Serie A match against Juve, they have two Europa Matches against them as well, along with matches against Napoli and Milan coming up in a few weeks. Seemingly, the only hope for any points at all will be a match at home against Chievo in two weeks.

The only redeeming factor of the weekend is that Inter and Napoli both dropped points and only gained a point.

Then a trip to Sampdoria, who have a coach that would love nothing better than to beat Fiorentina.
