Fiorentina travel to Macedonia to play on the grounds of Toumba Stadium against PAOK. The Greeks are on a 5-0 winning streak in their domestic football league (Greek Super League). While Fiorentina are struggling in Serie A, everyone on the team seems to be focused and ready to put the Lazio loss behind.
PAOK were defeated by Guingamp in the second round in France. They will be looking to grind out a point in order to stay in the race for qualifying to the round of 32.
I won't say that this is expected but it is what I am hoping for; Montella to run with a 4-3-3 formation. Tatarusanu is more likely to start over Neto who has been rightfully called up by the Brazilian National Team for their upcoming friendlies. In defense, Richards is still doubtful but could start as a full back on the right of Basanta and Tomovic. On the other side of Micah, Old man Pasqual is expected to lead the team from his usual position. The middle should be all about resting players for Sunday's match against Milan and so Badelj might be chosen to play with Valero and Kurtic. Vargas seems to be the best option for the left winger position opposite to Cuadrado on the right while I cannot see anyone able to play the target man except Babacar.
Projected Line-ups:
Fiorentina: Tatarusan, Richards, Tomovic, Basanta, Pasqual, Badelj, Kurtic, Valero, Cuadrado, Vargas, Babacar
PAOK: Glykos, Rat, Vitor, Skondras, Katsikas, Tziolis, Mak, Kace, Tzandaris, Salpingidis, Athanasiadis
Players to look out for are Razvan Rat who plays the fullback position and hopefully Micah will be able to stop him if the former plays on the left, Forward Athanasiadis is also a threat at front especially when our main defensive due is on the bench.
