Fiorentina continue Serie A play Sunday at Torino still reeling from the news that Giuseppi Rossi had injured his previously repaired ligaments and will likely be out for months. They have no time to mourn their lost striker, however, but will have to buckle down and find a way to get a result.
Most Viola fans cast a longing glance toward Mario Gomez, but reports from The Peninsula have suggested that the long injured German striker was still a few weeks away from recovery.
Ante Rebic, Joaquin and Rafal Wolski featured midweek in the Coppa Italia win over Chievo, but Torino at home looks to be much more of a test than the Flying Donkeys.
8th place Torino does quite well at home, with 4 wins, 4 draws and 1 loss and 19 goals for and 11 goals against.Torino are coming off a 3-1 loss at Parma last week, but had won three straight before the break.
4th place Fiorentina on the road have been all or nothing for the most part as la Viola have 5 wins, 1 draw and 3 losses with 14 goals for and 8 goals against. La Viola will be shooting for their 4th straight Serie A and 6th straight overall victory.
Torino are not without their own injury woes as Ciro Immobile was unable to make the roster. Former Fiorentina player Alessio Cerci will lead the Bulls into action while how Fiorentina take the field remains a bit of a question.
Montella has a rested Juan Cuadrado to work with, however, and that's never a bad thing. Josep Ilicic is rested up and could take the center role with Joaquin or Juan Vargas out on the left.
In the midfield, Alberto Aquilani missed practice and is questionable, Matias Fernandez could take his place if needed. Borja Valero is likely with David Pizarro or even Massimo Ambrosini.
In defense, there is still a question if Manuel Pasqual can go, if fit he should start, if not Nenad Tomovic will slot over again. If pasqula is fit and starts, Tomovic will likely slot in on the right, if not, the Facundo Roncaglia will take over. The usual center pairing of Stefan Savic and Gonzalo Rodriguez is expected in front of Norberto Neto.
