Fiesole Caldine 0 - Fiorentina 4; A Hot Tuscan Friendly

FiesoleCaldine

Today in Fiesole, a small town 5 miles Northeast of Florence, Fiorentina played a friendly against newly promoted Serie D side Fiesole Caldine. It was a hot Tuscan afternoon, the temperature at starting time was over 90 degrees and the game was played at a fairly leisurely pace.

Making things more difficult for La Viola was the absence of many players, both for injury and International duty. Missing were Emiliano Viviano, Juan Cuadrado, Stevan Jovetic, Juan Manuel Vargas, Matija Nastasić, Mohammed Hegazy and Ruben Olivera.

Despite the absence of some of the regulars, other Viola, both old and new faces, made the most of the opportunities. Adem Ljajic and Haris Seferovic started in front and the two of them accounted for all four goals, a brace for each.

Newcomers Borja Valero, Alberto Aquilani and new Regista David Pizzaro also contributed mightily to the match, completely controlling the midfield, something this Viola fan hasn't seen in many years.

Facundo Roncaglia held down the back line with Gonzalo Rodriguez and Michele Camporese, while Manuel Pasqual, wearing the Captain's armband filled out the outside of the midfield, with Mattia Cassani on the other side in a 3-5-2.
