Another International Break

Fiorentina players off on another midweek international break

Harold Cunningham

Just as Fiorentina seem to be hitting their stride, seven player go off to play midweek matches for their National teams.

To make matters more irritating, only one of those matches is an actual Qualifier, the rest are friendlies.

The Qualifier will be in Pod Gorica, where Montenegro hosts San Marino. Stevan Jovetic will not play, but Stevan Savic will be on the roster. With a win, The Brave Falcons, as Montenegro is known, could pass up England for first place in the group. England have 8 points, Montenegro 7 and Poland 6, but both Poland and Montenegro have played one less match than The Three Lions.

One friendly in Switzerland will pit two Viola players against each other as Matias Fernandez's Chile face Nenad Tomovic's Serbia. Tomovic usually takes a back seat to former Viola Nastasic, however.

Ahmed Hegazy will travel to Georgia with Egypt, Mounir El Hamdaoui and Morocco have a friendly against Togo and Emiliano Viviano is on the roster for the Italy v France friendly, but will not play, being fourth on the depth chart.

The final player in action today is also the one who has had to travel the farthest as Juan Cuadrado and his Colombia team face Brazil in New Jersey.

Fiorentina's opponents this weekend, Atalanta, however, have most of their squad available to prepare. It's likely only Frederico Peluso will called up, and he is only called to replace an injured player, so he won't likely see the pitch.
