So, yeah, that's probably the most difficult matchup the Viola could have drawn. The first leg will be in Munich at the Allianz Arena, either on Feb. 16 or 17 or Feb. 23 or 24. The return leg will be at the Artemio Franchi in beautiful Florence either on March 9-10 or 16-17.
I don't have a lot of thoughts right now, as I've been swamped with work this week so I haven't been able to keep up with the latest Viola news. But, quickly, I think having played Bayern last year will help tremendously. As an example, compare last seasons CL performances in the group stages against Lyon and Bayern with this years' performances against Lyon and Liverpool. The Viola have done the business this year and won't be afraid of this level of competition like they were last year. I'd say it would be another chance to meet up with old friend Luca Toni, but he hasn't been playing much due to a falling out with the coaching staff and it looks increasingly likely that he'll be off in January to anyone willing to pay his astronmical salary.
Let's use this post to discuss the CL draw, and I'll be back tonight or tomorrow with the preview of the crucial last match before Christmas at the Franchi against AC David Beckham (good luck against ManYoo, suckers).
Forza Viola. Peace.
